3. CYCLING ON THE ROUTE LEVANTO–BONASSOLA–FRAMURA
Since 2010, it has opened a pedestrian and cycle track, built on the ancient route of the railway by the sea in 1874 and then abandoned in the 70’s with the construction of the new railway upstream, which connects Bonassola to the villages of Framura and Levanto, in a pleasant location overlooking the sea, interspersed with romantic coves. Don’t miss it!
4. HAVE A GREAT BEACH, WITH SAND AND PEBBLES
In contrast to so many beaches its „colleagues“ in the area, the beach of Bonassola is among the most extensive in Liguria, mainly sandy, mixed with small pebbles, ideal for children. The sea is safe, clean and secure. There are three bathing, as well as two free large open areas where you can comfortably lay your towel and plant the umbrella. The sun awaits you, you just have to relax!
5. ADMIRE THE HIDDEN „BLUE GROTTO„
It’s still a little known destination, far from the classic beaten tourist paths. Reachable only by boat or canoe, in the locality of Scà, among Bonassola and Framura. During periods of low tide, you can be lucky enough to get inside and discover the small beach that‚s hidden, with the rays of the sun, filtering and reflecting on the dome inside the cave, recreate the romantic blue effects. 6. PRACTICE NUDISM AT THE „RED ROCKS“
Do you want a quiet and lonely place, where you can sunbathe in the buff? The „Red Rocks“ is the area for you! Head to the bike path towards Framura. Towards the middle of the tunnel, on the left, you will find a small exit which will take you on a wonderful area, full of red jasper and marble, once used as a quarry, now only refuge, out of time.
7. VISIT THE „LEAP OF THE HARE“ AND 42 KM OF PATHS
On the path Bonassola–Framura you will find directions to reach this spectacular place. The legend said that a hare being chased by hunters, rather than be killed, he preferred to save his dignity, but sacrificing his life, by jumping off this cliff about 80 meters high. The view is priceless, but watch the vertigo! In the area you will also find the remains of bunkers, used as a point of anti-ship attack during the First World War. And when you have finished enjoy the scenery of the „Leap of the Hare“, you also expect all the other 42km of paths in the town of Bonassola for all tastes and for all abilities!
8. IMMERSE YOURSELF IN THE AGE OF PIRATES VISITING THE CASTLE OF BONASSOLA
After more than 500 years of neglect and a few years of restoration, reborn to a new life, the Castle of Bonassola has reopened its doors in July 2013. Built after the invasion of pirates in 1560, it has become over the centuries the fort to protect the entire village of Bonassola, which, in the case of assault, took refuge inside. Over the centuries the defensive importance declined and the castle was also used as a cemetery. In 1963, due to work on the construction of the new railway line, a large part of the prospectus to the sea was demolished. Today you can immerse yourself in the life of a rural and old Bonassola, who fought against pirates invasions, visiting its beautiful rooms and enjoying the wonderful view from the windows, from the slits and terraces facing the sea.
9. VISIT THE „MADONNINA DELLA PUNTA“ AT SUNSET
Perhaps it’s the best known and most visited tourist site in Bonassola. This unique church overlooking the sea, built on the promontory to the right of the gulf, in addition to possessing a unique charm, it’s an excellent vantage point. From here you can embrace with eyes the whole horizon and, during a clear day, see the Cinque Terre National Park till the Versilia on the left, the Gulf of Tigullio, Portofino, the Ligurian Riviera, Monviso and the Maritime Alps on the right. In front of you, you can see the Capraia and the Gorgon islands and the protruding tip of Corsica. Considered by many the symbol of Bonassola, it‚s the ideal destination for walking, both day and night, when the charm of nature yields to the romanticism of the landscape. Don’t miss it!
10. TASTE THE FOCACCIA OF BONASSOLA
